David Piotrowski is the Managing Director and founder of Waterford Capital’s Structured Finance Group and is also an Investment Adviser Representative with Waterford Capital Investment Advisory Services, LLC.
Mr. Piotrowski has 30 years of investment banking experience in structured finance transactions across multiple asset classes. Mr. Piotrowski leads Waterford’s efforts as the sole placement agent for the Patent Capital Funding Program, which provides patent infringement litigation financing for inventors and patent owners.
Mr. Piotrowski possesses a hands-on approach to the business and is adept in all aspects of transactions, including client marketing, due diligence, cash flow analytics, rating agency and investor presentations, and negotiating terms and legal documents.
While at Waterford, Mr. Piotrowski has arranged over $210 million in financing for 24 patent owners since late 2021 via the Patent Capital Funding Program. In addition, Mr. Piotrowski successfully structured and placed the first-ever credit facility and first-ever securitization of marketplace consumer loans and has successfully arranged over $2.5 billion in structured finance transactions since joining Waterford.
Prior to joining Waterford Capital in 2010, Mr. Piotrowski founded and managed Double Eagle Advisors, LLC where he provided financial advisory, restructuring, and consulting services to specialty finance companies. Prior to starting Double Eagle Advisors in 2008, Mr. Piotrowski was a Managing Director for BMO Capital Markets for four years and managed their U.S. Term Securitization business and Dallas office from 2006-2008. Prior to this role, Mr. Piotrowski spent four years in RBC Dain Rauscher’s Asset Securitization Group, 2 years at Banc One Capital in both the Asset-Backed Finance Group and the Merchant Banking Group focused on sub debt and equity investments, two years working on the issuer side for Jayhawk Acceptance, a sub-prime auto finance company, and two years at NationsBank in their corporate finance group.
Mr. Piotrowski earned a BBA degree with a major in Finance from Texas Christian University in 1994 and currently holds Series 7, 24, 63, 66, and 79 FINRA Licenses.
